Help Fund Goochland School Projects

Mrs Tiffany Ray, our Media Specialist / Librarian at GES has entered a project  that we should do our best to support. The title of her project submission and direct link to it is:
We Are Choice READERS!

Her project is requesting approximately $800 to purchase books for the  entire school to participate in the Virginia Readers' Choice program sponsored by the Virginia State Reading Association. Info on that program can be found here. http://www.vsra.org/overview.html 

Donorschoose runs free promotionals form time to time with various companies, such as a Border book store one in December and a BING search engine online for $5. They are both over now but we will keep an eye out for any future opportunities.

The "Pouch Brigade"!!

We are excited to announce a new program for Operation Free Money: The "Pouch Brigade". Not only will we be earning MONEY for the PTA but we will also be teaching our students to RECYCLE!!! Students will be able to recycle their drink pouches in the cafeteria during lunch time. Parents are also encouraged to send in drink pouches that they have used at home as well (empty, no straws and lightly rinsed please). The PTA will earn $.02 for every pouch collected. Any brand (CapriSun, KoolAid, HonestKids Organic, Minute Maid etc) drink pouch will be accepted but not juice boxes.

Goochland Elementary PTA has been successful at earning on average
$1,000 / year by submitting in box tops!

Let’s try to double that amount this year!! Have some fun and use the collection sheets available with your children or classroom and grade level contests. 

BOX TOPS COLLECTION SHEETS make collecting easier and fun. Print out any one of your choice and glue or tape you box tops to the sheet to turn in. Envelopes or plastic bags work just as well. We earned $901 with the 2009/2010 submissions!

That is 100% FREE MONEY for our school. WOW! THANK YOU families for your help!

Box tops produce big bucks for GES!

The GES PTA Operation Free Money Committee made a submission of 4,450 box tops for education!  This is just in time for the 3/1 cutoff date which will result in an April 2010 check for $445.50.

The majority of the clipping, counting, sorting and bundling was done by our box tops team of two:

Jamie McCormick and Robin Sundstrom, who worked very hard to get this project complete and on time.

Many thanks to Jamie and Robin for volunteering their precious time to turn these box tops into cash for our school!

Also, a BIG thank you goes out to all of the GES families who save and turn in their box tops!  Without your help, this project would not be possible.  Thanks for your dedication to cut those box tops at home!  Please continue to clip and send box tops to school this year as they will be included in next year's submission.  Keep up the great work!
